I think I am over the election of Trump. If I ignore him, maybe he will go away…
Yesterday I began in earnest to plant some seeds for the spring. I’ve been stratifying some seeds in the refrigerator. Fortunately, TLW is short and can’t see all that’s on that top shelf… I also began the stratification of some seeds that I will plant directly in the ground in the spring like grapes. Others, like Saskatoons, are already in the ground outdoors.
I was surprised to find a plum pit had already sprouted in the refrigerator as had some Scotch Pine (Pinus sylvestris). The package for the pine definitely states 90 days cold moist stratification but other sources say 60… I hope the little darlings haven’t rotted or passed their best-before date.
Some Sea Buckthorn seeds seemed content to wait quietly in the refrigerator. I put them all in pots under lights in my basement. I’ll bring them up to our sunniest room when they need more light and warmer temperatures. Last year, I over-wintered a bunch of lilac seedlings there. One that suffered greatly when brought outside is back in the dining room and thriving. It just wasn’t quite ready last spring.
I also contacted my broker and elected to double my annuity payment from last year. Now, I’ll be able to afford my new red electric car. If things go as planned, I should be able to double the payments again next year. 😎 2017 is going to be a great year, despite Trump.
