Racism Triumphs With Trump

“Trump’s Cabinet is the whitest since George H.W. Bush’s. And yet, this omission seems particularly glaring given that Trump is beginning his administration after a campaign that established a singularly antagonistic relationship with America’s largest minority group. There is certainly no lack of qualified Latino candidates for high-profile leadership roles. By not including Latinos in his inner circle of advisers, Trump is sending the message that he does not value the talents and concerns of our community. There are 55 million Latinos in the US, and Trump can’t find even one for a high-level role?”

See What Trump’s Cabinet of ‘best people’ lacks
What you see is what you get. Vote for a racist bigot and you get a racist bigoted government. Oh, yes, he does have one “token black guy”, Carson in HUD… Does anyone really believe a cabinet of white $billionaires really has the best interests of the diverse working class at heart? Let’s hope people won’t be fooled again.

    I’m not seeing diversity, Bob.

  2. Ivan wrote, “Not a single black man.”

That’s somewhat surprising but possible because Debian started in USA and is most widely used in North America and Europe. Conferences held in those regions might not attract many from further afield. Not so DebConf 16 which was held in South Africa. Check this out:
    https://gallery.debconf.org/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=62970&g2_serialNumber=2

Still not many but I can see several rather dark complexions. Still not enough women, obviously.

  3. Ivan says:

It looks like a pretty diverse group in this picture.

Not a single black man. A token Asian. A token Indian (and a woman… two affirmative action birds with one stone!). A bunch of dirty hippy neckbeards. That isn’t diversity by a long shot, not that quotas are anything but racist.

    1

Mexican isn’t a race, it’s a nationality. What you’ve listed as proof of racism is really just proof of Trump’s talking before thinking. Had he said liberal when referring to the Judge you wouldn’t have batted an eye.

    2

That’s not racism, Bob, and you are showing a marked lack of knowledge of China’s State run economy.

    3

So. Prescott Bush funded Hitler. Big whoop. Do you have anything that isn’t a hit piece that actually shows intent?

  4. dougman says:

“Perhaps they could stand to have more women participate”

Like that Sarah Sharp developer, you ranted and raved about you socialist feminist.

  5. Kurkosdr wrote, “This happens because the states don’t trust each other. And with some states like California letting people vote with no citizen IDs, I cannot blame the other states.”

Well, it’s all over then. USA isn’t a country and will never be Great Again because it never was. Oh, wait! ISTR USA has done a lot of great things in war, tech, agriculture, government, education, art,… So, what’s Kurkosdr going on about? Immigration is such a tiny component of the population that it has almost no effect on government or the economy except to stimulate both into action.

Kurkosdr! You can’t live without air and water. Take a drink and a breath. See, it works for you. Why fear immigration? It is like air and water for a country. Competition is good. Immigrants allow USA to be more competitive in world markets, like speaking foreign languages and knowing customs. Immigrants provide lots of labour and growth in the marketplace. Welcome that. They boost manufacturing, housing, transportation… all good things. Welcome that.

If you want to waste energy sorting out immigrants into good bad and ugly piles, just think. Will that make USA better? In what way? It will just annoy people. Annoyed people are not your friends. They aren’t your customers. They aren’t helping you. If you really hate illegal immigrants, just increase legal immigration and the stream of illegals will be insignificant and it won’t do you any harm at all. USA could likely increase immigration tenfold and the economy would thrive.

  6. The Wiz wrote, “how long it takes to for his supporters to figure out they have been conned”.

I was hoping it would be 15-20 minutes to let the adrenalin dissipate after one of his rallies but apparently not… I imagine the folks who find coal doesn’t come back, the wall doesn’t get built by Mexico, and Apple does not willingly double the price of iPhones globally just to amuse Trump will wake up. I think Apple or anyone else who is rational may just as well leave USA if Trump goes after them. How many iPhones will USA buy in the next 4 years? How many will China and the rest of the world?

Then there are the 984 other promises Trump made. Very few if any will come true because Trump just pulled them out of a dark place or he heard them on the radio or read them on the web from deplorable sources. Oh, Trump will be able to do a lot, break things, but he’s not a creative/intelligent/thoughtful person. He can’t make water run up hill by wishing it do so. He can’t even speak in paragraphs. He repeats something three times while he’s trying to remember what to say next. Being short of sleep and Tweeting at all hours doesn’t make him a great president. He’s just like any Loser sitting on his bed in his mother’s basement Tweeting as he does.

He’s not a detail man yet he’s constantly getting hung up on some tiny detail of any issue. That’s very inefficient. That’s not dynamic leadership. He’s following the worst advice he can find.

  7. Ivan wrote, “calling someone racist when he has done nothing that is actually racist.”

Good, a baseline defining Trump’s racism.
1 “Donald Trump continued making incendiary comments about race on Friday, saying in an interview that an American-born federal judge’s judgment is clouded because “he’s a Mexican” and singling out an African-American man attending one of his rallies, calling him “my African American.”” Fits your description perfectly: judge is inferior because of his ancestry. ie. can’t do his job. also ownership of African-Americans… Wants to make America Great Again as it was before 1860…

2 Trump has accused China of unfair competition by devaluing its currency. This is false news/lying. He must be bigoted to ignore the facts that “Beijing has been trying to give markets a greater role in determining the value of its currency. Between mid-2005 and early 2014, the yuan rose about 30% against the dollar. But as the Chinese economy has slowed in recent years, the yuan has fallen back. “ So, market forces are unfair, eh? Particularly if you’re Chinese…

3 Trump is recommending for National Security Adviser a guy who is definitely racist, rubbing shoulders with Nazis and declaring Islam is not a religion but a political movement and a dangerous one at that.
    See Minority Report

So, Trump is surrounding himself with nut-case racists and is one himself. Birds of a feather flock together.

  8. Ivan wrote, “Debian is mostly white, they are clearly racist.”

I doubt the topic of race rarely surfaces in Debian. It looks like a pretty diverse group in this picture. Perhaps they could stand to have more women participate but they certainly aren’t old white men.

  9. Kurkosdr says:

It’s a really big defect in USAian politics that a minority can overrule a majority. There’s already regional representation in the Senate.

This happens because the states don’t trust each other. And with some states like California letting people vote with no citizen IDs, I cannot blame the other states.

BTW, if your boy Obama loves illegal immigrants so much, why didn’t he officially legalise them during his first two years, when he had the power to do so? Probably because they are most likely to vote Democrat as illegals? (“you know which party will safeguard your sanctuary”).

  10. Ivan says:

Debian is mostly white, they are clearly racist.

  11. Wizard Emeritus says:

Or could it have something to do with the fact that you already know you’ve been conned?

  12. Wizard Emeritus says:

“Don the Con? My, how original, is there anything else that you can copy from your feeble mind?”

    No answer, eh Dougie?

  13. dougman says:

Don the Con? My, how original, is there anything else that you can copy from your feeble mind?

  14. Ivan says:

I was in 85th percentile in the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) test for physics back in 1972.

Whoop-de-freakin’-do, Bob. You’re still a moron that is calling someone racist when he has done nothing that is actually racist.

    rac·ism
    [ˈrāˌsizəm]
    NOUN
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior:

The only person displaying anything resembling the above is you.

  15. Wizard Emeritus says:

“I will go one step further, remove all the illegal and dead voters and Donald beats Hillary.”

Go right ahead Dougie, it still doesn’t change the fact that Don the Con got in by 100,000 votes across 4 states. So if you are looking at making his vote something like a mandate think again – its not. And it will be interesting if not down right humorous to see how long it takes to for his supporters to figure out they have been conned.

    Theres always 2018.

  16. Wizard Emeritus says:

“Who cares, I guess you think Hillary should have won. “She got the popular vote…its NOT fair!”…BOOHOOO whiner. ”

Nope. But to make it sound as if Don the Con got anything but lucky is kidding yourself. We’ll just have to hang on until 2018. By then Don the Con should have done enough damage to himself that the Democrats will be back in control of the senate and possibly the house.

At which point he will discover what it was like to be President Obama.

  17. dougman says:

“If you take California out of the popular vote equation, then Trump wins the rest of the country by 1.4 million votes. And if California voted like every other Democratic state — where Clinton averaged 53.5% wins — Clinton and Trump end up in a virtual popular vote tie. ”

I will go one step further, remove all the illegal and dead voters and Donald beats Hillary.

  18. IGnatius T Foobar wrote, “You’re a moron, Pogson.”

Not likely, as I excelled in school, learned to read before I attended school and read in whole multiple encyclopaediae. In my working life I was often acknowledged for innovation, hard work and good work. I just don’t feel like a moron. e.g. I often get phone calls from people who know me for my encyclopaedic knowledge. These folks can access Wikipedia but they know I can tell the story better, using my skills as a teacher and understanding the capabilities of the target audience and their motivations. Morons don’t get those kinds of calls except if it’s a wrong number. e.g. I don’t think a moron could turn an ordinary PC like Beast into a router while keeping it’s desktop role. Do you? e.g. I was in 85th percentile in the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) test for physics back in 1972. That’s not where a moron would likely show up if they could survive first year physics (50 percent did not).

  19. dougman wrote, “these people are highly successful and your lack of faith is disturbing”.

Hitler, Stalin, and Qaddafi were all successful. Success does not only come to the well intentioned and knowledgeable and hard working. It also comes to those who form cartels of power/privilege. I have faith in humanity generally to do right things. These folks by their words and actions have shown themselves capable of great evil. Why would anyone put polluters and deniers in charge of departments intended to do good in the world? Wake up!

  20. The Wiz wrote, “including the 2.6 million who did not vote for Trump”.

That should be the 2.6 million more who did not vote for Trump. It’s a really big defect in USAian politics that a minority can overrule a majority. There’s already regional representation in the Senate. It’s not needed in the presidency nor desirable because it’s a single position and it means 2.6million were disenfranchised. It may have been necessary in the days of horses and buggies for practical reasons but it’s just silly that tiny/sparsely populated regions get extra weight to their votes for a simple up/down decision. OTOH, it would have been no contest if everyone had bothered to vote. All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

It’s just depressing to think what damage Trump and his buddies could do in 4 years with a stacked SCOTUS. They could roll back Roe v Wade, cast into stone software patents, ban solar and wind, pollute Earth, deport tens of millions, start WWIII and or arm the world with nukes… With the checks and balances all removed it’s downhill all the way to the bottom.

  21. dougman says:

“He’s not alone Dougie. A lot of your fellow citizens, including the 2.6 million who did not vote for Trump”

Who cares, I guess you think Hillary should have won. “She got the popular vote…its NOT fair!”…BOOHOOO whiner.

If you subtract out all the illegals and dead voters, it fairly much evens out.

  22. Wizard Emeritus says:

“Sorry Robert, but unlike you, these people are highly successful and your lack of faith is disturbing. ”

He’s not alone Dougie. A lot of your fellow citizens, including the 2.6 million who did not vote for Trump, have zero faith in President-Elect Don the Con’s choices.

  23. dougman says:

Sorry Robert, but unlike you, these people are highly successful and your lack of faith is disturbing.

Racism exists in Canada to by the way.
