Good News From Mozilla

“In Firefox 48, we aim to slowly enable multi-process Firefox (also known as Electrolysis or e10s) for release users, starting with one percent and ramping up to nearly half the Firefox Release if things go as expected. e10s promises to offer a major improvement to your browsing experience by separating Web content and Firefox UI processes.”

It’s about time… FireFox has been giving a lot of trouble lately, freezing up when TLW or I leave it running with a bunch of tabs open. The annoying thing is that it gives me only a few minutes before all control of the system is lost and if I’m away from Beast that happens regularly. It was compounded by a problem with swapping and Smart monitoring of hard drives. Poor Beast would be sent into paroxysms from which only powering off would save it. Quite annoying. I finally turned off swap and Smart but Mozilla is also helping us out.

Unfortunately, I’m not one of the 1% ;-). Here’s hoping I’ll be in the first 50%… After all I ran the beta for months. Surely, I’ve earned their respect.
