This Must Be A Joke – M$ Has Been Letting Anyone Install Print Drivers On All Their Operating Systems

“Normally, User Account Controls are in place to warn or prevent a user from installing a new driver. To make printing easier, an exception was created to avoid this control. So in the end, we have a mechanism that allows downloading executables from a shared drive, and run them as system on a workstation without generating any warning on the user side. From an attacker perspective, this is almost too good to be true, and of course we had to give it a try.”

See the horror:Every version of Windows hit by “critical” security flaw
What do you get when you use an operating system designed by salesmen? An open door for malware and intruders. Get a file to any user on the system and have them click to run it. Take over the whole LAN. Thank Goodness I left That Other Operating System for GNU/Linux 17 years ago. Imagine caring about the security of IT and having TOOS on the LAN. It’s a nightmare.

When I use to pay C-types a visit to review their IT infrastructure, so as to better ascertain what was needed or not needed before I gave them a quote for my services. I would almost always show them how easy it was to reboot a Win-Dohs server via TS session piggy backing Adobe Acrobat repair/update, much to the chagrin of their current IT idiot.
