Given The Choice, Consumers Prefer GNU/Linux

SJVN summarizes the Christmas rush for consumer IT in legacy PCs…
“Both companies offered close-to-identical Chromebook and Windows 8.1 models at the same price points, but buyers chose the Chromebooks.”

We need that choice everywhere to make the world of IT a very different place. Go ahead, retailers, offer GNU/Linux and that other OS on more or less identical hardware and see what your customers want. Aren’t they always right? I believe when consumers first got a crack at GNU/Linux on the netbook, that movement should have spread to all PCs but was stifled by M$ and “partners”. It’s time that was revisited and the supply chain starts producing what the consumer wants.

See Chromebooks spank Windows.

There is a perfect example as to why people are choosing Chromebooks over Win-Dohs.

Turning the thing on, then walking away so as it can update is just classic. LOL….

Before UEFI people would just buy heavily discounted laptops and desktops at retail stores and replace the useless Microsoft operating system with easily installed Linux. After UEFI consumers stopped buying anything with Microsoft on it. Lots of UEFI hardware heading to the landfills (dumps, tips). What a waste of natural resources!

    Some amazing comments…LOL..

    – Amazon top seller list is doo doo (Yea sure, with 237 million active customer accounts)

    – MS owns, and will continue to own 90% of the desktop. (Kodak said the VERY same thing, “we own all film and will continue to do so”. Even after inventing the digital camera, they still went and file for Chapter 11) So you see, things do not always stay the same.

    – Now shut your self up and wait for Windows 10. This was the best one in my opinion…LOL. No thanks, not gonna shut myself up and wait for vaporware, when good ol’ Linux is good till 2019.
