For A Limited Time, “Linux For Dummies”, 9th Edition – eBook $0

I just noticed Distrowatch is promoting “Linux For Dummies”, 9th Edition – eBook (usually $22.99) FREE until 12/23. I’m not particularly fond of that title but it is a voluminous book about using GNU/Linux and for $0 you can’t complain about the price. After all, books are the best teachers. It may not be for retired folk like me though… “Active work email required to receive offer”.

Pretty much a universal problem with all computer books dougman. They’re all out of date before the ink has even dried. Our local books, videos, games, software store used to carry quite a selection of computer books. Most were quickly out of date and ended up in the “bargain” bin section quite rapidly.

Linux books go out of date really quickly because the system is in a constant state of change and update. I suppose there is some general useful info there but it will leave brand new Linux users that might be using the latest versions of Ubuntu and Fedora etc. scratching their heads…..
