New Theme

No, I haven’t changed my tune! It’s about the HTML/CSS errors. I switched canned themes and things seem to work better, clean HTML and many fewer CSS errors. We seem to be able to copy and paste from/to the comments now. I may tweak a few more things in the coming days as I play with this.

The new header has three images I captured myself this evening, just walking around the yard. Like GNU/Linux two of them are tiny things (Manitoba maple, Acer negundo, on the left and a plum I planted from a stone of the fruit from a relative’s yard on the right) eventually growing into a giant ecosystem. The centre image is an old wild hawthorn I pass on my walks sometimes. It’s a wonder. I saw two more even larger and more prolific today on another walk. They were 20 feet tall and drooping under the weight of colourful fruit.

Yes, I used to have an Android smartphone that I used to run on the LAN and for its GPS and camera functions. I planned to use it while hunting this fall but a relative broke her phone so “The Little Woman” decided it would be a good idea to lend my phone. I’ve heard it’s coming back because a new phone has been acquired. A few of the images I have used on this site came from that phone and my knowledge of distances walked on various routes came from that phone. I am working on a web application to provide recipes and nutrition information in the kitchen. That phone could be a handy terminal there.

I prefer the new theme too. It seems I fight with the system less now that I have installed it. I explicitly chose it because it was older and “less modern”…

This actually looks modern. The previous one looked like a site from the 90s or early 2000s being kept online because someone forgot to cancel the hosting fees.

Now, can we get some content that is new too? Most of the FOSS community has diversified to Android ROMs, Android apps, and ARM boards like the ODROIDs (either running Android or some traditional distro).

PS: Have you even used Android? If not, you are missing out.
