Beast and This Blog Save the Day

Yesterday, I was downstairs working at Beast in my basement den, reading and writing for this blog. When I was done, I found a huge puddle in the middle of the basement floor. The sump hose-clamp had come loose and water which normally would be ejected to the ditch was piling up. Fortunately, my timing was good. An hour later and there would have been serious damage to our finished basement. As it was, I refastened the clamp and got the pump running purposefully again. An hour or so drying out a rug and vacuuming water from the floor followed by ventilation put things back in order. If I had not been down in the basement, the water might have been a foot deep before being discovered. We had heavy rain for a couple of days and that sump was busy…

So, once again, I must express my gratitude to the FLOSS community for saving my bacon. We really should invest in a backup system and an alarm.
