The Harvest

My garden did poorly this year compared to last. There was a drought and I gave insufficient water. Also the weeds got the upper hand…

Last night we had our first killing frost, rather late as frosts go here, but I have some horseradish, carrots and flower-roots to harvest. I was about to go out after the sun had warmed the air a few degrees but I saw this and decided it could wait.

They are nibbling in a patch newly seeded to perennial ryegrass and catching a few rays.
