NSA Responds To Insecurity By Cutting System Administrator Count By 90 %

Chuckle. They must run a lot of GNU/Linux. There’s no way that other OS can be secure with such cuts because of the layers of cruft that M$ imposes. With GNU/Linux otoh, one guy can control an indefinite number of machines with SSH and package managers. Even in my home, I activate one script and it updates all the machines on my LAN in a few seconds.
“What we’re in the process of doing – not fast enough – is reducing our system administrators by about 90 percent”

see NSA to cut system administrators by 90 percent to limit data access.

Of course, my view of the cuts is that they are multiplying their vulnerability by ten because one guy now will have ten times as much stuff to look at… 😉 This could be the NSA shooting themselves in the foot.

bw of course your narrow incompetent point of view of the world misses the fact with Edward Snowden went on officially approved holiday to Hong Kong. So the airline ticket could not alerted them to anything.

FBI is not much use at preventing data leaks like Edward Snowden. NSA own internal policing processes are the only one that can help against a Edward Snowden event.

Less could be good and bad. Reality no OS is really designed to be nicely highly secure. Nicely designed for highly secure would require a OS to be design only to allow administration actions if two parties approve that action. So no single person can act alone. Its the old basic you have a traitor in your camp you split up into teams of 2. Now a single traitor is now in a doom location. Either he kills the guy he is with and give away that he is a traitor. Or he attempts to be a traitor with high risk of being caught.

Lot of what Edward Snowden has in Hong Kong is permitted training material operators were allowed to take home. Some how the NSA classification of documents needs a overhaul. Yes the training manual that documents the locations of the monitoring system include the security clearance information.

I don’t understand why you guys are making such big issue of big brother? They are snooping all the time in all the countries whenever they can and want to. If you are an NSA employee, you will do the same.

With so many fewer people to watch over, the FBI will have an easier job detecting when any one of the remainder buys an airline ticket to Hong Kong, though.

I don’t really care what OS those criminals use. The whole institution should be disbanded for violating the privacy of the entire world.
