Despite $billions invested in development, M$ has lost what little grip it had on the ARMed personal computer market. They are going nowhere fast on small cheap computers and have only their own stuff in the channel:
“Microsoft’s Windows RT operating system may fall to the same fate as Hewlett-Packard’s (HP) webOS as most brand vendors have already stopped developing related products, leaving Microsoft’s second-generation Surface RT, the only Windows RT-based device in the next-generation tablet competition, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.”
see Windows RT facing pressure from being isolated.
Pitiful share on smartphones and tablets after years of work and no expenses spared means the world, given choice, rejects M$’s products at the OEM, retailer and consumer level. That would be the case for their desktop OS as well where retailers would stock GNU/Linux. The world can and does make its own software such as Android/Linux and GNU/Linux. The world certainly does not need a monopolist making desktop software.
Meanwhile */Linux is growing rapidly or has a commanding lead in every market for IT:
- 75% of web-servers run GNU/Linux
- 95% of HPC clusters run GNU/Linux
- 59% of smartphones ship with Android/Linux
- 56% of tablets ship with Android/Linux
- GNU/Linux has grown nearly 80% per month for the last two months in US and 20% per month globally, according to StatCounter
Hey, here’s more bad news for Microsoft (unrelated to tablets):
South Tyrol (autonomous province in Italy) migrates to LibreOffice
Good grief, Mr. Pogson, I see Microsoft collapsing as soon as tomorrow.
Here’s some news that should light your fire:

Looks like Microsoft lost another one!
Allow me to distill dougman’s performance.
No, no, no, no, no!
Dougman, acting as a troll:
NOPE, there is no Linux, none what-so-ever. *covers-eyes*
Just wait, people need time to warm up to MS ReturnIT.
It is still new to the market after 7-months, why you waiting? It does everything I need to do and then some.
The next update Windows 8.1 will fix everything, I swear!
Ignore all those bloggers and connotations on Wikipedia, they just be dumb.
