There are reasons M$ is losing the web: cost, complexity and vulnerability. Who needs those, particularly for new sites/services? A rising star of web-hosting, DigitalOcean has very few if any Windows clients.
“Microsoft Windows is conspicuous by its absence; DigitalOcean has postponed plans to support Windows citing complexities including licensing and security concerns.”
see The Meteoric Rise of DigitalOcean | Netcraft
Folks who are comfortable with the cost, complexity and vulnerability of M$’s OS have not experienced the joy of IT that works, works for the user instead of for M$. M$ is all about “getting value” from its OS above all else. It is an OS designed by salesmen who love to sell more cost and complexity as “new features”. Unfortunately for the world, that brings vulnerabilities galore. Fortunately for the world, there is an alternative Debian GNU/Linux and other distributions of Free Software.
My guess is that Microsoft is on the verge of taking a horrible beating with the new Xbox. Its being nearly universally panned for its crappy treatment of consumers with regards to its used game policy and always connected requirements. Major losses coming from their next debacle!
