My Mission
My observations and opinions about IT are based on 40 years of use in science and technology and lately, in education. I like IT that is fast, cost-effective and reliable. My first use of GNU/Linux in 2001 was so remarkably better than what I had been using, I feel it is important work to share GNU/Linux with the world. Now that I'm retired I still use GNU/Linux on every computer in my home except the smartphones which run Android/Linux.Lately, I've been giving lots of thought to the world I inherited and which I will leave to my descendants. I'm planting grass, trees, flowers and vegetables in my large lot and I've ordered a Solo EV. I plan to charge my Solo by means of a tracking solar array. Life is good if you have a purpose. I do.

It’s Not Just Marketing. IT Is Experiencing A Shift To Mobile. Real Mobile.
"Early adopters tend to leave the home laptop in the bag and are abandoning the home office in favor of the lounge room couch or bedroom to do online activities in a more comfortable environment using a tablet or smartphone. … Continue reading
New FUD… FLOSS Too Efficient…
It never ceases to amaze me how creative folks who discourage wide usage of FLOSS can be. They are true conmen contorting reality in what appears to be reasonable ways. “The reason closed source software does not deliver the most … Continue reading
AWKWARD it is!
"Windows 8 is awkward in that it tries to address the intuitive ease of use of a tablet with the compatibility and features of a PC. For a consumer, they see no need for all this when a low priced … Continue reading
US States Rebel
The world is bigger than Wintel and should not be lead around by the nose to buy ever more licences to use the hardware owned outright. While many governments and organizations meekly accept their yoke from M$, others rebel. They … Continue reading
