I read a very brief post on Digitimes and noticed several vital bits:
- The title includes “quad-core tablet PC” referring to Android/Linux devices. In the real world “PC” has come back to “personal computer”, instead of “a device running that other OS”. Amen
- With quad-core Armed CPUs the new smart thingies really have all the power most people need most of the time. They can multitask hard occasionally and still reduce power when idling.
- HTC is releasing new products using quad-core ARM and Android at Mobile World Congress in February.
- TFA also lets slip that “8” is expected at the end of 3Q 2012 and OEMs are not waiting for it to release new stuff.
We do live in changing times and one of the things that’s changing is the expectation that M$ innovates and that people depend on M$ to innovate. The world is moving faster than M$ and FLOSS is taking up the slack.
