2011 – PCs Lose Majority

I guess we will have to add smart-phones and tablets to the PC category. More of them are expected to ship than desktop, notebooks and netbooks in 2011.

The interesting thing in this for me (my eyes are a a bit weak for those tiny things) is that that other OS need not apply for this looming role in IT. Lose CE run on some ARMed equipment but Android/Linux is the hot commodity. The question is not if but when desktops, notebooks and netbooks will yield to this end-around play by Linux. The competition on price and performance is fierce in this market. You can buy new tablets with ARM and Android/Linux for less than $50. Here‘s one in China selling for $70 with either OS. There are thousands of suppliers of similar products.
