War, Rumours Of War, And Stupidity

“In mid-September, General MacArthur brought off a masterstroke by landing two divisions 240km (150 miles) in the enemy rear at the port of Inchon. Their communications cut, and under heavy aerial bombardment, the North Koreans broke and fled back north; MacArthur ordered a hot pursuit which led across the 38th parallel and deep into North Korea. As the victorious UN forces drew near to the Manchurian border, there were ominous signals from Peking that communist China would intervene to defend its territory. In mid-October, MacArthur met President Harry Truman on Wake Island in their first encounter to assure him that a massive UN offensive was about to conclude the war victoriously by Christmas. No sooner had this been launched in November than the Chinese unleashed their armies.”

Lately Trump has been rattling his sabre threatening violence in Asia. Considering that his campaign rested on the stupid goal of “making America great again”, war could be Trump’s last vain hope for glory…

Trump views the Korean War as unfinished and unsatisfactory. He probably feels MacArthur was right and China should be punished for falling in with the North Korean regime back then… Yep. That’s it. Trump wants to correct history. He wants to bet USAian firepower against North Korean and Chinese and Russian manpower and arms.

This is a very dangerous game as NK has some nukes that will be used or lost, hordes of artillery, infantry and armour that will be used if hostilities break out. Indeed, if Kim decides Trump will attack, Kim may well decide to attack first with artillery including rockets and nukes against the South. Hundreds of thousands could die in the first day. USA does not have the manpower and neither does the South to hold back Kim’s hordes so tactical nukes are almost certain to be used. If USA applies air-power over the North, Russia and China may attack and a royal mess will happen including four sources of tactical nukes. The Korean war may be fought over the last cinder behind which a Korean is hiding.

Checks and balances are not working in USA. Congress is powerless to impeach Trump until stuff really hits the fan. Clearly, Congress can’t do the maths that says numerous offenses against common decency and logic and budgetary sensibility amounts to “high crimes and misdemeanours”, the grounds for impeachment. Even the backup POTUS, Pence, appears to be no better in terms of backing the goals of a raving lunatic (This silly demonstration of the silliness of Trump and his team cost taxpayers hundreds of $thousands.). If a costly and disastrous renewal of the Korean War breaks out to puff up still more Trump’s ego, will Congress “rally round the flag” or actually exert oversight of this mania? If folks thought the first round of the Korean war, Viet Nam, Afghanistan and Iraq and Syria were expensive disasters, they haven’t seen anything yet. There is no upper limit to the damage that can be done before more than a few ships of troops can be launched into the cauldron. Trump’s recollections of USAian greatness are obsolete. Nukes and ICBMs do damage in minutes not months and years. Months and years take millions of lives for no gain whatsoever. That’s not greatness. That’s immorality.

Seriously interested in the thin client thing Robert. You should post some videos!

  2. “You will built a thin-client environment at your house.”

Already done. I regularly use a thin client because our last Intel CPU is patheticly slow. It’s much faster to run applications on Beast.

November, 2018 will be a very great month for the restoration of democracy in USA. I expect impeachment will be the first order of business with Ds reclaiming the Senate and possibly the House.

You forgot a few things that November 2018 will be a very great month for, Robert. Let me be nice to you and help you:
    1. You will get your Solo.
    2. You will get you ARM server.
    3. You will built a thin-client environment at your house.
    4. You will fix WiFi under systemd.
    5. Linux desktop will take over the world and gain 80% usage.
    6. People will throw out all their PCs and buy small-cheap Odroids.

If Trump is not found by then to have committed high crimes there is no shortage of misdemeanours on his slate. The only thing better than Trump being kicked out of office would be for him to spend the rest of his days in solitary confinement somewhere.

    Delusional!

I think every racist/white supremacist felt they were reaching for a life-preserver when Trump came into view. Imagine a president with no morality at all. What a prize for that camp. Trump also apparently believes whatever the last thought that ran through his head. He can be persuaded of anything at 0600. He’s the perfect leader for a mob. Fortunately good people greatly outnumber the bad and now they will have a reason, fresh in their minds, for voting next time. Let’s not forget that Trump was fueled by both Dem and GOP neocons and neolibs called warmongers. First they humiliated him and then angry Trump lost all his self control. I guess Trump is perfect president for US to run down whole Global US Empire. He is indeed modern version of Galigula.

    Posturing.

Does this look like a war is looming in Asia?

You facts are wrong, AGAIN, as always.

Fat boy Kim is the one provoking, by launching short-range missiles and testing nukes.

I think you need a check-up Robert. Best to schedule one now, as it will take you 6-8 weeks to see one Canada.

I’m old enough to remember the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. It was supposedly the trigger for the USAian shooting involvement in Viet Nam. It was also Fake News.

You condemn the Gulf of Tonkin Incident as “Fake News”, but anything that comes out of CNN these days you gobble it up and virtue signal the same crap.

    *Rolls-eyes*

    HYPOCRITE.

No, it’s not. It’s to make sure Trump is not just a footnote in history. Trump wants to make a big splash no matter how many people are hurt. It’s about the size of Trump’s ego.

Look at it from NK’s point of view. Trump has shown that he never lives up to any agreement: DACA, NAFTA, and Iranian nukes, off the top of my head. One would be crazy to even consider making an agreement with Trump. He’s always moving the goalposts and his words are nonsensical. He can’t hold a thought, only repetitive phrases.

So, NK will think Trump intends to have a glorious war to cement his place in history and NK will attack first to have the most effect from all their weaponry. Koreans will die in huge numbers. Japanese will die in huge numbers. USAians will die in smaller numbers but likely still thousands. Trump’s followers will worship at the feet of a megalomaniac as others did before Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Kim… Who will count the cost before it’s too late?

I’m old enough to remember the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. It was supposedly the trigger for the USAian shooting involvement in Viet Nam. It was also Fake News. Then there were WMD in Iraq. Then the Iranian nuclear deal must be about more than nukes. Trump makes up Fake News about Korea, Iran, etc. It’s sad that so many will die for his ego.

  11. William Spielberger says:

Wow! You must have picked some psychedelic mushroom or berries. Your anti-Trump ravings have no base in reality. The whole point of the threats by President Trump is to make sure NK comes to the negotiating table. IF NK even has the capability of mounting a nuke on a missile they would never use them. The NK’s don’t want to die. They know any provocation of SK or the US would result in their total destruction in exchange for MAYBE getting a couple of missiles past the anti-missile systems stationed around SK or dropping a few artillery shells on SK.

It’s funny how you hard left loonies refuse to see the accomplishments of President Trump. He’s made some mistakes, but for the most part everyone in America and many around the world have benefitted from the stronger US economy and reduced illegal immigration under President Trump.

It is just posturing. Trump, his family, and his cronies, not to mention the same kind of “team” on the Putin side, and the big money in China, remain heavily invested in the Blackrock Exchange Traded Funds (derivatives) listed on the ASX as IAA and IEM.
IAA is mostly “exposure to Korean and Chinese investments”, IEM has lots of Gazprom and Chinese action in Africa.

Google ASX:IAA and ASX:IEM and drill down. Welcome to the Matrix! ;-D
